Alas… my fellow drivers, we now live in a world in which reckless abandon of motorists has grown rampant in our society. So much so, that even the Vatican has issued their “Driver’s Edition” of the 10 Commandments… (Seriously! They actually did issue such a document.)
The tenets listed encourage prayer while driving, respect of traffic rules, discouragement from road rage, and more.
So, without further ado… I present to you… “The 10 Commandments of Driving”:
-
You shall not kill.
-
The road shall be for you a means of communion between people and not of mortal harm.
-
Courtesy, uprightness and prudence will help you deal with unforeseen events.
-
Be charitable and help your neighbor in need, especially victims of accidents.
-
Cars shall not be for you an expression of power and domination, and an occasion of sin.
-
Charitably convince the young and not so young not to drive when they are not in a fitting condition to do so.
-
Support the families of accident victims.
-
Bring guilty motorists and their victims together, at the appropriate time, so that they can undergo the liberating experience of forgiveness.
-
On the road, protect the more vulnerable party.
-
Feel responsible toward others.
There you have it… the rules to abide by whilst on the road.
IMHO, based on my own personal experiences… we should also come up with a set of Commandments for “Opportunistic Vehicular Accident Con-Artists”! We have a whole pack of ‘em here in the Philippines! Haha!
We can put in rules such as:
- Individuals shall not make false accusations or use extortion as a way of living. Such offenders shall face punishment by genital electrocution… by means of lightning (through divine will).
Hahaha! Errr… seriously, damn them all! They’re actually scarier than the actual motorists who traverse the road daily.

nice list! :p did the vatican REALLY issued this?! *lol*
also wanna share my only rule on the road: Trust Nobody.
don’t trust the driver behind you that he can brake in time to avoid your sudden stop….
don’t trust the driver in front of you that he will not do anything stupid to get you in trouble….
don’t trust the pedestrians that they still love their life…
don’t trust yourself that you are a good driver… hehehe!
Yes… they actually did. You can even check CNN.com cause I read about it there. Haha!
i just heard it in the news a while ago.
i love that additional lists particularly “don’t trust the pedestrians that they still love thier life..” i’m guilty of this sometimes…hehe, but i’m trying my best to always use the pedestrian lanes when crossing the street. however, disciplined pedestrians shouldn’t also trust that all drivers will slow down whenever there’s a PedXing
